Important Patio Umbrella Purchasing Information

There are a myriad of Outdoor Patio Umbrellas available for purchase in the United States. Some of them are what one would term a seasonal import, available from the big box stores. In most cases these umbrellas will give you one season worth of service. The information below refers to better quality brands of umbrellas that can be ordered in essentially a custom order, allowing you to choose the frame and canopy color. Furthermore they also offer the ability to purchase replacement parts for the frames and new canopy’s in different colors if you so choose.
When shopping for your umbrella, shop with a store that can provide swatches for the fabrics that you are interested in. There is nothing worse than receiving your product and finding that the canopy color is not what you expected. Take the extra time to be sure that you will receive what you wanted.
Review the warranty available on the umbrella that you want. Generally the manufacturer provides a warranty on the frame and a separate warranty on the canopy fabric. You would be recommended to confirm that the manufacturer is locally based in the USA to ensure that the warranty can and will be honored.
Bar height umbrellas are a standard umbrella that is supplied with a longer pole to allow for it to fit properly in a bar height table. To avoid problems, confirm the height of your table before going to purchase your outdoor patio umbrella.
Umbrella with lights is not lighting correctly. These umbrellas make use of transformers. If none of the lights come on it could be a problem with the transformer. If only the lights in a rib are not lighting it is possible, depending on the manufacturer, to just replace that rib.
The canopies’ and of course the wooden frames used for umbrellas are not fireproof. It is important that you don’t use the outdoor patio umbrella close enough to an open flame that it could accidently ignite the canopy. When using electric heaters follow the manufacturer’s instructions regarding the clearances of the heater to the fabric.
Many outdoor patio umbrellas utilize a crank system to raise and lower and in some cases to tilt the canopy. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions on the crank operation to prevent potential jams or breakages in the crank system.
When ordering your outdoor patio umbrella on the internet the stores will provide you with an expected ship date. In most cases this is the time that it will take for the manufacturer to produce the umbrella, because as mentioned with the large variety of options available on the units, your purchase is essentially a custom order.  In your planning you should therefore allow an extra number of days for the actual transport of the order once it has been shipped.
Keep your umbrella stored when not in use. In windy areas, although you have lowered the canopy, strong or sudden gusts of wind can still blow the umbrella over. No manufactures provide warranty coverage for wind damage and it would be a real shame to lose the use of your umbrella and possibly have to replace the complete unit.
