How To Convince Your Parents To Accept The Person You Love?

Our childhood and teenage days were filled with Romeo and Juliet, Titanic, Cinderella and all such stories where young ones fought tooth and nail with their parents and the rest of the world to stay together. However in real life, it is not always this easy or wise. You are truly, madly and deeply in love with someone. They are everything to you and you can't imagine life without them. So what do you do if your parents hate them? Would it be sensible to just leave them because your parents can't stand them? Or should you leave your parents for hating them?
Well, the simple answer is no, you don't have to leave anybody. All you need to do is analyze the situation from both the ends. First of all, find out why your parents hate your love. They are your parents. You just cannot neglect what they are saying completely. Find out the reason why they hate them. Try putting your heart aside and understand the situation from their angle. Then think about what they just told you and see if it is justified. Is there something evil in your partner that you failed to notice? Love can often be blind and miss a lot of things that should have been taken into consideration. So if your parents spot a speck, it is quite possible that there is one. If you have done this and you still feel that it is merely a difference of opinion, you must speak to your partner about it. Try and get them to talk to your parents. Get them to understand each other and sort out their differences. If they really love you, they will work hard to win the hearts of your parents. The problem is if you see that your partner is genuinely trying, but your parents are just not willing to give them a chance; in this case, you will have to speak to your parents and explain to them how you feel. You can also take help from some other senior family member, who can intervene to make your parents understand. If this also doesn't work out, just give them some time. Maybe, they just need time to accept this new member into their life.

However, if no matter what you do, your parents are just not ready to understand and you really think you are doing nothing wrong, maybe you must go ahead with whatever you think is right. Speak to them one last time and tell them how much you wish that they could support you. At the end of the day, you will be happy with a person only if you love them. So if you think they are perfect for you, then go ahead with your decision of being with them. It is not going to be easy. But if you are right, it is surely going to be worth it. And in due course of time when your parents see for themselves how happy you are, they will forgive you.
