How the Five People You Surround Yourself With Affect Your Personal Achievement

We want to have personal achievement and success but we get so caught up on focusing in on ourselves and our actions that we can lose sight of what may be the biggest obstacle for benefit to our success those around. More specifically the 5 people we choose to surround ourselves with. Those five people closest to use can have a profound effect on our ability to achieve at a personal level for four very specific reasons. Their attitude effect our attitudes, do they add to or take away from our focus, do they have the right connections to help us succeed and do they really support us in our dreams.

Attitude

Everything is one thing and that one thing is energy. If we are constantly interacting with the five people then their energy will have an effect on our energy. In order to have personal achievement we have to maintain a positive energy. We can do everything we can for ourselves to maintain our positive energy, but if the five people around us have the wrong attitude their energy will continue to drain us. You have to make sure that the five people you interact most with are positive people with good energy if you want personal achievement.

Focus

In order to achieve at a personal level you have to be able to focus on your dreams and your goals with laser like accuracy. This means you have to limit the number of distractions keeping you from success. For some people they have chosen to remove TVs, or limit their access to distracting sites online like Facebook, etc. All of these can be good, but what they often over look is the time that the five people closest to them take up. Friends are needed and can be positive, but only if they are a not a source of distraction from your focus. Really reflect on your five closest people and see if they help you stay focused or are a distraction for you.

Connections

Success is never achieved alone, it is all about who you know and who they know. This is where surrounding yourself with people with good connections can be of great benefit to you. Are your five closest people helping to move you forward through their connection, or are you always the person helping them to achieve. A good balance needs to be achieved between those people you are acting as a mentor to and those people close to you who are acting as a mentor. You need both in order to have personal achievement.

Support

The final thing to keep in mind is are your five closest people actually supporting you. This goes back to the discussion of energy and attitude earlier. Do these five people really completely believe in your dreams and your ability to achieve them, or do they constantly show you all the reasons why it wont happen? You need people who are going to believe in your "impossible" dreams with you, not the ones who want to "keep it real". Honesty is good, not supporting you as you pursue your dreams is not. If you want personal achievement you must surround yourself with people who support you in your dreams, no matter how out there they may seem.
