If you smoke in your car then you have probably had some form of seat burn as a result from dropping your cigarette on the car’s interior upholstery. The resulting burn can look very unsightly and if left unattended could start to fray the fabric from the entire seat, (1) Mobile car body repair service (2) Static car body repair service (upholstery).
Mobile car body repair services are the cheaper option of the two and can repair the damage within 1 hour, they use a glue and fibre repair system that involves filling the damaged seat burn with glue and melting matching fibres into the glue itself. mobile car body repair services also offer other types of services such as bumper scratch repair and key scratch repair.
A static car body repair service would make the repair 100% perfect by re-upholstering the entire fabric. This involves taking a section of the interior seat off at the seams that contains the seat burn and re-stitching on a new piece of fabric. With the increased amount of work involved the cost of such a repair is far greater than the mobile car body repair option.
As you can see above there are options available to repair a seat burn, if you wish to try and repair the seat burn mark yourself then read on for it’s cheaper and the finished repair is not at all bad?
To repair the seat burn you will need:
Razor Blade Glue Gun plus Glue Stick Iron Small Metal Block (size of a match box) Parchment Paper
(1) First gentle cut away any of the burned or fraid edges with the razor blade
(2) Heat up the glue gun and place the glue within the burn hole so it sits just below the seat surface
(3) Cut away some of the matching fibres form underneath the seat or in an area that is not noticeable with the razor blade
(4) Put the fibres on the glue within the hole, place the parchment paper over the fibres.
(5) Heat up the iron, when it’s at a medium heat gently angle the iron so only the tip is touching the parchment paper and rub slowly and softly in a circle around the fibres for 30 seconds. The glue will get sticky and absorb the fibres.
(6) As soon as the iron is pulled away remove the parchment paper and place the metal block over the repair. The coldness of the metal will rapid cure the glue and set the fibres.
