Oatmeal soothes the skin and stops the itching. You can either add it to your bath water or use it as a soap substitute. For the bath, add 2 cups of colloidal oatmeal to a tub of warm water. To use it a soap substitute, wrap colloidal oatmeal in a piece of cloth, secure the top with a rubber band, dunk it in water, wring it out and use it the way you would a wash cloth.

Scratching yourself may offer you temporarily pain relief however by simply doing this scratching act you are thriving the eczema molecules! All this means one step forwards and then ten steps backwards! Hence regardless how seductive you feel don't scratch! Paying special attention to personal hygiene will help alleviating the itchiness and the need to scratch it. Continually scratching the itchy area could lead to infection and end up aggravating the eczema and making it worse. Whilst the above natural ways of treating your eczema is not a comprehensive list it will go a long way to alleviating your eczema misery.

Avoid soaps and detergents. This is a really important step in relieving eczema due to the ingredients found in soaps and detergents. Normal soap is alkaline and can further dry out your skin. Soap and detergent-based shampoos should be avoided-look for natural products, or even try a more natural aqua based cream instead of soap. (Even though it seems a bit strange to wash with a moisturizing cream, it is very beneficial).
