How To Keep Your Ingredients Fresh For A Longer Time

Every person who enjoys cooking should do anything possible to keep the ingredients fresh for a longer period of time. This is a great way to save time and money and you will therefore enjoy using all the tips provided in the lines below, which are taught in detail in the best pastry program courses from all over the world.

1. Frozen tomatoes are an excellent alternative to the tomato paste as used in the kitchen. Before you freeze them, however, it is important to wash them and remove any stain or impurity from their surface. In order to achieve the best results you should keep the shells in boiling water for 3-4 minutes, then cool them in cold water. Remove the peel with a thin knife blade. Cut in halves or quarters depending on the size you want them to be and place them in plastic bags. Remember to always pay attention to details, since frozen vegetables increase their volume so make sure that there is enough space. If you have thicker bags, use 2 for each package.

2. As recommended by teachers of the best pastry program, it is always good to place a celery around the food you are about to freeze. Place slices of celery in a plastic bag in the freezer. Next, when you remove it from the fridge you should leave it for 5 minutes in cold water to ensure they are stored at the proper temperature and ready to be cooked.

3. Frozen fruit and vegetables are a great alternative to canning. Freezing is better mainly because the bacteria do not develop. But you must remember that once frozen the crystals formed may damage the cell structure of your ingredients. Even so, the quality will never be compromised.

4. In winter you can cook delicious soups without using canned vegetables. Carrots, potatoes, parsnips, celery can always be frozen and then cooked as fresh. Tomatoes and peppers can also freeze. During autumn, red and green peppers should be washed thoroughly and crumbled with  a knife. Put them in plastic bags and freeze them.  If you want to add some color and flavor at the same time, this is also a good idea.

5.  If you want to keep your lettuce fresh for a longer time, you should take its leaves and wash them thoroughly. After this, they can be placed in the refrigerator and drained completely.

6. Green onions are best refrigerated in a plastic bag filled with air and connected well.

7.Green beans or yellow beans can also be stored well in the freezer. Wash the quantities you want to freeze and cut the ingredients carefully. Heat the beans for two minutes in a pot with boiling water. Then cool them with cold water and let them drain well. Use thick plastic bags to store them in the freezer.
