4 Easy Decorating Tips For a Lovely Cake

Some easy decorating ideas for a beautiful cake include the following: the puffy and fuzzy technique, tropical palm tree style, mud and worms decorations, and flowerpot illusion.

Any kind of cake, whether decorated plainly or extravagantly, will always be the main feature of any event. Then again, not all great-looking cakes require complex procedures; you just need a little amount of skill to create them. The following are a few simple cakes that look terrific.

Puffy and fuzzy technique

Go to the grocery and purchase an ordinary cake. Then, spread white icing all around the cake. Grab an ordinary neat plastic bag, fill it up with the same white icing and squeeze it unto one of the plastic bag's bottom corners. Using a sharp pair of scissors, cut off about 1/4 inch of the end where the squeezed icing is so you can create a pastry bag. Begin squeezing tiny drops of icing onto the top of the cake and all over it. Keep on doing this until you cover the entire cake with these pointed drops. Now you have a cake that is airy-looking, puffy and fuzzy, and will fit all unique birthday party ideas or any other very special occasion.

Tropical palm tree design

Make a cake with a tropical theme with store-bought topping and a cake pan that's formed like a palm tree. You can get this pan at cake stores that are both on the web and in your city, in gourmet shops, as well as in craft shops. Prepare and make an ordinary cake using the palm tree-shaped baking pan. Then create the green leaves of the palm with icing that's been colored green. To create green icing, you simply have to mix about two to four drops of green food coloring with a small can of the vanilla icing. Add drops of food coloring one at a time until you have just the correct hue that you want. Then mix 2 drops of red food coloring and two drops of purple food coloring into a little amount of vanilla topping to make the brown icing you will use for the trunk of the palm tree. Frost your palm tree cake and put it on a plate that is lined with palm fronds.

Mud and worms decorations

Bake a cake, or get a regular one from the store that is already baked, and spread brown topping over it. Create brown icing by coloring vanilla icing with 2 drops of red food coloring and two drops of purple food coloring and carefully mixing them together. Then pound about two cups of chocolate wafers and sprinkle them over the cake. Decorate the top of the cake with gummy worms that are poked partly into the cake so it will look like the worms are wiggling their way out of the cake.

Flowerpot illusion

Another simple cake you can make that not only looks complicated but is also extraordinary is a flowerpot cake. Buy a good size clay flowerpot of your choice that's not decorated on the inside and clean it meticulously. Line the interior with foil and also place a big straw upright and in the center of the flowerpot. Next, put slices of cake inside the pot until you reach about two and half inches from the top of the pot, making sure that the straw remains upright and in the center. Put about 2 inches of sorbet and sprinkle the top with crushed Oreo cookies. Cut the straw level with the top most layer of the cake and freeze the whole thing for a few hours. Prior to presenting the cake, cut a fresh flower and put it into the straw in the cake.

A decorated cake, no matter how simple or ordinary it may seem, will always be appreciated by the recipient because it is a labor of love.
